Sruti Atluri is an undergraduate public health student at the University of Texas at Arlington with an interest in health informatics. During her undergraduate studies, she was a research assistant in the Wilson lab through the UROP program, a research intern at the UTA PAWS lab, and a participant in the first cohort of TexBioMed during the summer of 2023. Sruti is passionate about the intersection between health and data and ultimately plans to a pursue a career in this growing field. In her free time, she enjoys being active, hiking, and hanging out with friends.

Passionate about data science and analytics, I possess extensive expertise in Python, R, SAS, SQL, and machine learning. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Applied Statistics and Data Science at the University of Texas at Arlington, I bring hands-on experience in predictive modeling, data visualization, and statistical analysis. As a graduate public health student with a keen interest in the legal aspects of the field, I have gained significant experience through my undergraduate degree. My time at MICHI equipped me with essential skills such as engaging in lifelong learning, rendering quality work, and representing clients effectively. These experiences have not only honed my abilities but have also reinforced my commitment to serving the community through my work.

Serenity Fanene is a committed University of Texas at Arlington Public Health student with an active passion for the field of health informatics. During high school, she acquired an associate degree in interdisciplinary studies from Central Texas College’s STEM program. While being an undergrad student she excelled in data visualization and analysis for distinguished research during her time in the TEx BioMed Summer internship and the GET PHIT Boot Camp. Serenity’s journey will continue with the Fall 2023 GET PHIT internship in partnership with the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, exhibiting her commitment to public health informatics growth. Her objective is to apply data science/research practices to improve the existing gaps in today’s healthcare system and advocate for minority populations.

Kristal Garcia, a first-generation undergraduate student at UTA, serves as a Research Assistant under Dr. Hernandez. Pursuing a degree in public health, Kristal’s interest centers on women’s reproductive and maternal health in underdeveloped communities. Passionate about promoting health equity, Kristal is dedicated to understanding and addressing women’s challenges in underserved areas. Alongside research, she is interested in health promotion and education, aspiring to become a health educator and community health worker in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area. Kristal’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in public health reflects her dedication and academic excellence at UTA.

Partha Sai Guttikonda is a master’s student in computer science at the University of Texas at Arlington. I am interested in working on projects related to machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and neural nets. I love to build user interfaces. Furthermore, I am excited to join the Luber Lab and work on many interesting projects under the guidance of Dr Jacob Luber.

Jeremiah Joseph is a research assistant with a background in neurovascular physiology. Jeremiah spent two years in the Neurovascular Physiology Lab under Dr. Jody Greaney, participating in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program for three semesters along with being a Summer of Undergrad Research in Integrative Physiology Fellow and the Louis Stokes Association of Minority Participants Summer Research Fellow during his time in the lab.
Throughout his tenure in the Neurovascular Physiology Lab, Jeremiah focused on identifying potential physiological mechanisms contributing to cardiovascular disease in adults with depression. Along with this his experiences as a teacher and medical assistant while working with underserved communities have profoundly shaped his passion for research, particularly in addressing health disparities.
Beyond research, Jeremiah is currently pursuing a dual degree with a B.S. in Kinesiology and a B.A. in Philosophy, complemented by minors in Biology, Biochemistry, Political Science, and Medical Humanities. He is proud to be recognized as a Bill Archer Fellow and is set to embark on a journey into policy work in the nation’s capital during the spring of 2024. Additionally, Jeremiah is honored to be recognized as an InSTEM scholar for his class of 2025′.
Jeremiah is eager to leverage his diverse education and expertise to advance knowledge and make a meaningful impact in the realms of science, healthcare, and policy through the mentorship of Dr. Wilson and The MICHI initiative.

Sarah Melcher received a Master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her topics of interest include access to healthcare and maternal and child health.

Poojitha Naidu is a current UTA MS in CS Student. We now have disease-free offspring, thanks to genetic coding and bioinformatics. Naidu is interested in working on the next-gen AI and Genome Sequencing through Machine learning and Deep learning algorithms.

I am a public health undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Arlington. I have an interest and passion for epidemiology, and I want to improve the quality of health in our community in any way I can.
