Abstract Submission Information
Invitation to Contribute / Call for Abstracts
Our nation is in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic which has a profound effect on care and health. We need your thoughts and innovation on how to reshape our healthcare informatics system to optimally respond to pandemics.
The motto for the First Annual Texas Health Informatics Alliance Conference will be “All In: Informatics Lessons from the Pandemic to Reimagine Health Care”. We invite researchers, developers, health professionals, information management professionals, data and information scientists, and students to submit abstracts describing the use of data and information technology to combat pandemic outbreaks in the community, hospitals, practices, and academic medical centers. While we anticipate that the focus will be on COVID-19, we welcome contributions addressing other outbreaks (e.g., Zika, MERS, SARS, TB, West Nile, etc.).
A peer review process will evaluate the abstract proposals based on the following criteria: innovation, interactive elements, speaker experience, science and originality of the material, timeliness of the information, clarity, and educational value. Abstracts should double spaced and should be no longer than 300 words and contain no more than two figures/tables. Please submit abstracts together with a brief CV (one page) for all authors via the abstract submission portal (HERE) by Monday, August 9th, 2021. An independent panel of judges will invite the top 4 submissions for a plenary presentation and the top 4 student submissions for a student presentation at our conference. Authors of accepted presentations will be notified in early August.
Plenary Presentation: Each plenary presentation will be 20 minutes and an additional 10 minutes for questions.
Student Presentation: Each student presentation will be 10 minutes with an additional 5 minutes for questions.
