The TexBioMed program was eye-opening. It was a mixture of people from different backgrounds and majors with the common goal of health informatics. By the end of the program, I believe we all saw health informatics/ health data as vital to everyday functions.
TexBioMed is such an amazing opportunity for anyone looking to enter the field of health informatics. This program gave me the opportunity to cultivate friendships with like-minded individuals, learn key analytical skills, and even gain hands on research experience which ultimately solidified my desire to continue working in the field. All that goes to say that Dr. Wilson, and her team really go the extra mile to provide you with mentors and opportunities and I could not think of a better way to experience all that health informatics has to offer. TExBioMed exposed me to the field of biomedical informatics and allowed me to apply these concepts to research lab all in one summer. I’ve met a lot of great mentors and great friends who have helped me grow and I will carry these experiences with me wherever I go.
Tex Biomed provided a remarkable experience that broadened our horizons and allowed us to discover new and exciting career paths. Personally, the program also enhanced my skills in effective communication across teams and nurtured my ability to collaborate effectively.
