2023 Glaser Society Proceedings
The John P. Glaser Health Informatics Society was initiated by D. Bradley McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth® Houston in recognition of the expertise and leadership of John P. Glaser, PhD, who is a universally recognized thought leader in the field of health informatics. The John P. Glaser Health Informatics Society was created to acknowledge innovators in the field of health informatics and provide education, collaboration, and networking opportunities for the broader community of health informatics professionals, clinicians, and students.

Marion Ball congratulated for Glaser Award
Marion Ball, a UTA health informatics expert, was formally honored for receiving the John P. Glaser Health Informatics Innovator Award during a reception Friday, Oct. 13. In a tribute video for Dr. Ball, more than 15 colleagues congratulated her for the achievement.

Abexxa Biologics is changing how we treat cancer. Using immunotherapy, Jon Weidanz is treating cancer through novel biotechnology that targets cancer cells and boosts the immune systems of patients. Jon and Debra Weidanz are the co-founders of the biotech company Abexxa Biologics, which was acquired by Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) in 2021. Jon shares how he raised capital from BI venture funds, how Abexxa won their Golden Ticket competition, and how they went from lab discovery to acquisition in just a few years.
