ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF HEALTH INFORMATICS
For University of Texas at Arlington students interested in the ever-changing world of health informatics, their learning did not stop during the summer. Two innovative programs put on by UTA’s Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics (MICHI) exposed Mavericks to the intersection of health, information and technology.

TEXAS HEALTH INFORMATICS ALLIANCE HOSTS THIRD ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The University of Texas at Arlington, in conjunction with UTHealth Houston and UT Southwestern Medical Center, will host the third annual Texas Health Informatics Alliance (THIA) Conference at the UTHealth Houston Cooley Center on Friday, Sept. 15.

HEALTH INFORMATICS EXPERT EARNS TOP HONOR
Marion Ball, a University of Texas at Arlington health informatics expert, has received the John P. Glaser Health Informatics Innovator Award for her leadership in the field.

UTA DOCTORAL STUDENT SELECTED FOR GOOGLE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
Jillur Rahman Saurav, a computer science doctoral student at The University of Texas at Arlington, has been selected to participate in the Google CS Research Mentorship Program.

UTA STUDENT TO PRESENT COVID-19 RESEARCH ON WORLD STAGE
A University of Texas at Arlington doctoral student will present her research on COVID-19 vaccine misinformation at a prestigious international health informatics conference this summer.

UTA ESTABLISHES HEALTH INFORMATICS PARTNERSHIP WITH GERMAN UNIVERSITY
The University of Texas at Arlington aims to promote continued teaching, research and student opportunities in the ever-changing health informatics field through a new cooperative agreement.
Representatives from both UTA and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in Germany celebrated the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between them during a ceremony at the Science & Engineering Innovation & Research Building.

INNOVATION PRIZE COMPETITION TO BE HELD IN DALLAS
The University of Texas at Arlington has partnered with Boehringer Ingelheim to host the Innovation Prize Competition, a networking event and pitch competition for emerging life-science companies and bio-entrepreneurs to be held Oct. 13 at Pegasus Park in Dallas.

UT-ARLINGTON CREATES TRAINING PROGRAM FOR JOBS IN BIOMANUFACTURING AND BIOTECHNOLOGY
Through an $8.8 million grant awarded to Dallas College by the U.S. Economic Development Administration, the University of Texas (UT) at Arlington reports that it will work with Collin College, Dallas College, and Tarrant County College to create a new regional career training program in biomanufacturing, biotechnology, and bioinformatics.
